Hometown Scholars Program
Start college close to home with support every step of the way.
The Hometown Scholars program helps Tillamook County graduates begin college with low or no tuition, built-in support, and a strong start at TBCC. You’ll get help paying for school, planning your classes, and connecting with people who want you to succeed.

College Connect (Required Program)
All Hometown Scholars take part in College Connect, a 3-session summer program. This helps you get ready for college before fall term starts.
What You’ll Do
- Meet other students and TBCC staff
- Learn about financial aid and college resources
- Get help planning your classes
- Build confidence for your first term
Session Dates
- Tuesday, June 23, 2026 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
- Wednesday, July 15, 2026 (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
- Thursday, August 20, 2026 (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Hometown Scholars is a program for local high school graduates who want to start college at TBCC.
Result: Many students pay little or no tuition
As a Hometown Scholar, you will:
- Get help paying for college (up to 2 years)
- Work with a Success Coach for support and guidance
- Build a plan for your classes, career, and goals
- Join a group of students starting college together
This program combines:
- TBCC Scholarships
- Oregon Promise Grant
- College Connect (required summer program)
Financial Support
- Scholarships from TBCC (amounts may vary)
- Oregon Promise Grant
- Possible full tuition coverage for some students
Personal Support
- One-on-one help from a Success Coach
- Help choosing classes and planning your future
- Support with financial aid, registration, and more

Watch your email for important dates!
You may be eligible if you:
- Graduate from a Tillamook County high school or earn a GED
- Are age 16–19
- Plan to enroll at TBCC in the fall
- Take at least 12 credits (full-time)
You must also:
- Apply for Oregon Promise (by June 1)
Students are selected based on a mix of:
- Academic performance (GPA)
- Financial need
- Financial aid eligibility (FAFSA/ORSAA results)
- Overall application
Scholarship amounts may vary based on the total number of applicants and available funding.
To stay in the program, students must:
- Attend all College Connect sessions
- Enroll full-time (12+ credits)
- Stay active and engaged in classes
- Meet with their Success Coach
